What If I Want to Get Stronger? | Season 3, Episode 13

Today I’m answering a question I’ve gotten multiple times lately: What if I want to get stronger? This question can definitely get confusing (understandably!) in the context of body acceptance, so we’ll explore that from a few different angles in today’s episode. What Long-time Practitioners Know About Practice | Season 3, Episode 12

There’s nothing I love more than talking with people who have been practicing yoga for a long time. I had a conversation recently with someone who has been practicing for nearly fifty years, and today I’m sharing what I learned from her and what we can all learn from what long-time practitioners know about practice. A Practice Approach to Creating the World We Want to Live In (Season 3, Episode 10)

One of the things we’ve been talking about lately is expanding our ideas about what practice means in order to find a regular, sustainable approach for both yoga and body acceptance. What I’ve been thinking about the past week is what that might look like in terms of how we show up in our lives and for our world. In today’s episode I’m talking about what that might mean. I don’t have any particular answers, but I’m curious about it and if you are, too, I hope you’ll give a listen! This is Why We Practice (Season 3, Episode 9)

If you’re anything like me this week, you might have been feeling all of the feelings the past few days. I debated whether or not I’d do a podcast this week, but I decided to because I wanted to share with you what happened in my Thursday night yoga class and what it reminded me about why we practice. An Intuitive Eating-Type Approach to Yoga Practice (Season 3, Episode 8)

Something that’s really on my mind these days is how we create a regular, sustainable yoga practice that can grow with us over time. What I’ve been playing with lately is applying an Intuitive Eating approach to yoga practice. In a nutshell, what I mean by intuitive is that it comes from your own body and needs, not from external guidelines/rules, so that (a) you’re less likely to fall into a dieting-type cycle around it, starting one day, quitting four days later, being hard on yourself about it, and then starting the whole thing over and (b) you can make it as physically rigorous or not, or as long or short as you want, on any given day. How writing your future self a note might just change your life (Season 3, Episode 7)

I’m SO excited about today’s episode, y’all! I truly cannot believe I haven’t shared this strategy with you yet, but I’m so happy to be doing so. In this episode I’m talking about how writing myself reminders of how to get through challenging situations that present themselves time and again in my life (feeling negative about my body, my creative process, when I feel anxious) has empowered me so much and help me move through these situations with more ease. Today I’m sharing what’s in a couple of mine, as well as suggestions for how you might write your own. Hope it’s helpful! How yoga helps us create space & why it matters (Season 3, Episode 4)

Yoga is a practice of creating space. That might seem fairly obvious when we think about it in relationship to the body, but what does it mean when we also consider it in relationship to our breath, mind and life? Not to mention what it means for accepting our bodies? In today’s episode we’re digging into the power of space and what it can mean for many different aspects of our lives. Show Notes Viktor Frankl quote: “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” Sarah Bray Dive into the Episode Now
